Novena
Song before Chaplet of Divine Mercy | On Eagle’s Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
who abide in His shadow for life
say to the Lord, “My refuge, my rock in whom I trust”
And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
And hold you in the palm of His hand
Song before Prayer for the Dead | Be Not Afraid
You shall cross the barren desert
but you shall not die of thirst
You shall wander far in safety
though you do not know the way
You shall speak your words in foreign lands
and all will understand
You shall see the face of God and live
Be not afraid
I go before you always
Come, follow me
and I will give you rest
Come, follow me
and I will give you rest
Song after Prayer for the Dead | How Great Thou Art
Oh Lord, my God
When I, in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Song after 1st Eulogy | Doon Lang
Song after 2nd Eulogy | You Raise Me Up
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until You come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be.
You raise me up to more than I can be.
Vigil Service (incl. Liturgy of the Word)
Song before Holy Rosary | Hail, Holy Queen
Hail holy Queen enthroned above
O Maria!
Hail mother of mercy and of love
O Maria!
Triumph, all ye cherubim
Sing with us, ye seraphim
Heav’n and earth resound the hymn
Salve, salve, salve, Regina!
Our life, our sweetness here below
O Maria!
Our hope in sorrow and in woe
O Maria!
Triumph, all ye cherubim
Sing with us, ye seraphim
Heav’n and earth resound the hymn
Salve, salve, salve, Regina!
Entrance Song | Amazing Grace
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
Through many dangers, toils, and snares
I have already come
‘Tis grace has brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home
First Reading | 2 Corinthians 5:1, 6-10
A reading from the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians.
We have an everlasting home in Heaven. We know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in Heaven. So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yet we are courageous, and we would rather leave the body and go home to the Lord. Therefore, we aspire to please Him, whether we are at home or away. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive recompense, according to what He did in the body, whether good or evil.
The Word of the Lord
R./ Thanks be the God.
Responsorial Psalm | Ps. 27 The Lord Is My Light
The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge
How can I be afraid?
R./ The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge
How can I be afraid?
There is one thing I ask
to live with You, Lord
All of my days
and all of my life
R./ The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge
How can I be afraid?
And He keeps me secure
in times of great fear
He shelters my soul
And lifts me high
R./ The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge
How can I be afraid?
I believe that I shall see
the goodness of my God
in the land…of the living
in the land…of the living
R./ The Lord is my light and my salvation
Whom should I fear?
The Lord is my stronghold and my refuge
How can I be afraid?
Gospel Reading | Luke 12:35-40
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
R./ Glory to You, O Lord
Be prepared.
Jesus told His disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in his way, blessed are those servants. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour when the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.
You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
R./ Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ
Reflection After Homily (if needed) | I Have Finished the Race
I have kept the faith
I have entered the gates
He says, ‘Come to me and I will give you rest.’
Like the angels and saints
I have fought the good fight
Finally, I see Him face to face
I have finished
Finished the race
Every tear from my eyes
He’s wiped away
No more death
No more mourning
I am clothed in God’s glory
I have finished
Finished the race
My Shepherd has called
He has called me by name
To abide in Him in Paradise
He restores my soul
For His love has conquered all
I am with the One
Who never dies!
I have finished
Finished the race
Every tear from my eyes
He’s wiped away
No more death
No more mourning
I am clothed in God’s glory
I have finished
Finished the race
I am now at peace
Kneeling at His feet
Singing praise to God
Before His throne
This is not goodbye
I am by His side
Oh, Jesus
He has called me home!
I have finished
Finished the race
Every tear from my eyes
He’s wiped away
No more death
No more mourning
I am clothed in God’s glory
I have finished
Finished the race
I have finished
Finished the race
Blessing of the Casket | Song of Farewell
May the choirs of angels
come to greet you
May they speed you to paradise
May the Lord enfold you
in His mercy
May you find eternal life
Repeat as many times as necessary
Final Song | Hindi Kita Malilimutan
Hindi kita malilimutan
Hindi kita pababayaan
Nakaukit magpakailanman
Sa ‘king palad ang ‘yong pangalan
Malilimutan ba ng ina
Ang anak na galing sa kanya
Sanggol sa kanyang sinapupunan
Paano Niya matatalikdan
Ngunit kahit na malilimutan
Ng ina ang anak niyang tangan
Hindi kita malimutan
Kailanma’y ‘di pababayaan
Hindi kita malilimutan
Kailanma’y ‘di pababayaan
Hindi kita malilimutan
Kailanma’y ‘di pababayaan
Hindi kita malilimutan
Kailanma’y ‘di pababayaan
Additional Songs (if needed)
To Where You Are
Who can say for certain
Maybe you’re still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You’re still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are my
Forever love
And you are watching over me
From up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while
To know you’re there
A breath away’s not far to where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream?
And isn’t faith believing
All power can’t be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me
Every day
‘Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me
From up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on
And never leave
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for a while
To know you’re there
A breath away’s not far to where you are
I know you’re there
A breath away’s not far to where you are
